Is Wordpress a good option?
July 2023
Are you contemplating using WordPress for your website? You might want to think twice. Here we tell you why.
It is true that WordPress can offer us a tool to make your website, with plugins and templates without needing to know the code. But you have to know the cons of using this tool. We will mention some of them.
1- LACK OF SUPPORT SUPPORT: I don't know if you knew that in Wordpress there is no official development team, and since you don't pay for the software, there is no phone number to call or any guaranteed way to get a response wordpress is not going to help you, reply or take over your page.
2- SECURITY: A hacker or internet pirate to infect a website created in wordpress should only look for a weakness (which are many) and then they already know the weakness of millions of websites in the world including yours since it is the same code, the same structure, inputs and outputs for all other web.
3- INSTABILITY: Many plugins are created by hobbyists or by developers who are learning programming, do something for their own site and release the plugin for free and then forget about it, leaving everyone who installs it with bugs and errors that will pay dearly for it later.
4- DESIGN: Being condemned to a limit of themes and if a theme that fully adapts to your needs has not been created, then you will have a website that you do not like, and even worse; does it have to be edited? what if templates are missing? what if it fails in some browsers? then they will have to be created with the template system required by wordpress and it increases the working hours, which ultimately ends up paying double to wordpress and the person who implements it.
5- DUPLICATE If other people bought your same theme, then you will have your website repeated everywhere or worse, your competition could use it without problem and without having any kind of copyright.
6- DEPENDENCY: WordPress pages often break every two months or so and as their core changes with each update they need to be constantly patched and updated. Wordpress is an open source platform, which means you're on your own once you set it up online. Get ready to hire multiple WordPress developers over the next two years to fix your site until you get to the point where you're ready to give up and try something new.
